“A teacher affects eternity.
He can never tell where his influence stops.”—Henry Adams
Her profession is not much of honor to many,
but her job will surely reside in the heart of
all leaders and professionals to come.
For when there was no one, there was she,
with her light of love and care shining through.
Wherever a child reach in life someday,
that radiant light has made it all come true.
She is a friend of overnights and a foe of sleep.
She burns her midnight candle to prepare for her lessons.
She sets her objectives and plans for appropriate
approaches and strategies on how to deliver the lesson efficiently.
She wants her lessons to be interactive, challenging and enjoyable.
Moreover, she appreciates and encourages diversity inside the classroom.
She thinks and considers that her learners are a group of different individuals,
showing multiple intelligences from each.
Hence, she incorporates varied learning activities
for she believes that the learners will learn best
if they can have the experience by themselves.
Further, she encourages creative work among her students.
She creates an open and trusting environment within the
classroom—giving the learners academic freedom to bring out the best in each of them.
She allows them to express themselves for she believes
that each curious eye can produce a brilliant output through proper guidance,
facilitation and motivation.
She also believes that learning is a lifelong process.
In fact, she continuously prunes her skills and enhances
her knowledge through reading and attending seminars and workshops.
She never ceases to learn something new every single day.
She constantly practices her pronunciation and improves
her vocabulary and communication skills
for her to be well-understood by the students.
She plays many roles in a learner’s life—mentor, support, helping hand,
friend to name a few.
She roots for each learner, she comforts in her own way
in times of loss and proud in her own way in moments of win.
Indeed, she is an individual with a heart.
It really takes a heart to do something with
passion and a heart to make everything possible.
She enables dreams to thrive and to be achieved,
one dreamer, and one learner at a time.
These herculean tasks are all possible because
she puts her heart into it. She is also a human being,
with roles and responsibilities in her family and
in the society but she feels most accomplished
when she sees her students having learned something from her,
and when she sees one achieving his/her goal in life.
More than the knowledge she shares to her students
is her desire to inspire and to mold each learner
as a well-rounded individual.
She does not only focus in imparting knowledge
to her students but she also gives importance
in building character and great attitude.
Certainly, she deserves to be called a hero.
If only Wonderwoman was real,
she would have been shamed to know that one needs not a hi-tech
suit nor super powers to be a hero.
Just an ordinary person, no suits, no fancy Jarvis, just pure passion
and determination, and yes, everyone calls her a TEACHER.
